The Ruby’s Rainbow Scholarship
Much of the homeschooler community consists of students who have moderate to severe learning disabilities or other mental/physical health issues that make learning in a traditional classroom environment challenging.
The Ruby’s Rainbow Scholarship program caters specifically to students with Down syndrome who want to attend college, graduate school, or attend vocational school. The awards go up to $10,000.

The National Merit Scholarship
Many people don’t realize that homeschoolers are eligible to receive the National Merit Scholarship as long as they take their SATs at a public high school or other approved testing location.
You’ll need to provide your PSAT or NMSQT scores and your high school transcripts in order to qualify to win one of the over 8,000 scholarship opportunities the National Merit program provides.
State-Based Homeschool Scholarships
In most cases, your best options when it comes to scholarships for homeschoolers will be state-based.
This means that you must choose to attend a school in your home state and that you need to have been homeschooled in that state in order to qualify.
Some of the most well-known options include the Virginia-based KCI Homeschool Essay Contest Scholarship, the Washington-based Janice M. Hedin Scholarship, and the Georgia-based Hope Scholarship Program.
If you apply for a state-sponsored scholarship, you’ll likely receive a one-time payment anywhere from $1,000 – $3,000.
