General Information on Dance Mat Typing All Levels

The system is complete with graphics, animated animal characters, and sounds which make it easier for your kids to use it effectively.

Dance Mat Typing is a series of 4 levels with 3 stages for each level. The animated animal teachers take kids through each of the 12 stages and showing them where to place their fingers on the keyboard, which fingers to use to type particular keys with on-screen cartoon hands. Level 1 starts with the home row keys: In the 1st level, you will learn to type the keys on the home row as well as letters e, i, r and u.

  • Stage 1: f, d, s, a, j, k, l, ;  g, h
  • Stage 2: e, i
  • Stage 3: r, u

Level 2 learn the six keys above the home row: In the 2nd level, you will learn to type six new keys that lie over the home row as well as letters t, y, w, o, q and p.

  • Stage 4: t and y
  • Stage 5: w and o
  • Stage 6: q and p

Level 3 learn the six keys below the home row: In the 3rd level, you will learn to type six new keys that lie under the home row plus letters v, m, b, n, c and the comma.

  • Stage 7: v and m
  • Stage 8: b and n
  • Stage 9: c and ,

Level 4 learn five more keys and how to make capital letters: In the 4th level, you will learn to type the letters x and z. You will also learn how to make capital letters and type three more keys: the apostrophe, slash and full stop.
